Beach Access

Beach access is a breeze from 59 Port Tack.

Our home is only 8/10ths of a mile (1-1/4 kilometers) to the nearest beach access walkway.

The paved access walkway is by the intersection of Port Tack and Mooring Buoy. Turning right onto Mooring Buoy from Port Tack, the walkway is about 20 yards further along on the left.

You have several options to enjoy the beach:

  • Walk it: A good stroll to get the juices going. Plan on 15 minutes to walk it at a brisk pace. If you are towing kids add 5 minutes more.
  • Bike it: This tends to be the easiest. It’s a 5 minute bike ride. You can take your bikes on the walkway over the dunes onto the beach. Bike riding on the beach is encouraged and fun too! The Marriott hotel has an outside bar if you get that far and need a refreshment. You could also look for the Dunes House which serves lunches. Look for the red umbrellas. This will be before the Marriott.
  • Drive it: Park at The Dunes House, located just before the guard station on the left as you go back out of our neighborhood. If you reach the guard station, you have gone too far. The Dunes House has parking, public bathrooms, and a snack bar. They also rent beach “stuff” in front of the building. This is for homeowners and renters only! Parking is limited, so it is best to arrive early.
  • Shuttle it: Use the Palmetto Dunes Buggy by calling 843-689-4222 to request pick-up. It’s FREE and it stops at the Dunes house. This service is also available to take you to Shelter Cove and the “Mall”. The picks you up right from the front door.
